Department Summary
Established in 1969, the UCLA Asian American Studies Center (AASC) is a national research center dedicated to advancing historical, transformative and interdisciplinary scholarship that bridges research with community voices. The Institute for American Cultures houses the AASC along with the American Indian Studies Center, Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies, and Chicano Studies Research Center. The centers are the only ethnic studies organized research units (ORU) among the 10 University of California campuses. The AASC advances research and the field of ethnic studies through publications, public programs and events, providing funding opportunities, maintaining the largest Asian American Studies library and archives in the U.S., housing 7 Endowed Chaired Professorships, and community partnerships with local, state and national organizations. The Center has 13 staff and a Faculty Advisory Committee made of 55 Faculty members cross campus.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director, the Educational Resource Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the assessment, development, and organization of educational materials and resources of the Asian American Studies Center. This work includes, but not limited to, transforming collections into instructional resources, distributing resources and research-based publications, and managing archival projects by preparing materials for digitization and overseeing metadata and Content Management System (CMS) ingestion. The incumbent will also oversee the dissemination of policy reports and journal articles produced by the Center. The incumbent will serve as the primary administrator for various digital asset management systems, digital and special collections projects, such as the Asian American Pacific Islander Multimedia Textbook Project, Yuri Kochiyama Collection, Japanese American Research Project, Never Forget: Filipinx Americans and the Philippines Anti-Martial Law Movement, Reading Sa I Gu Collection and future projects.
