Wo International Center’s After School Language Teachers are essential members of our school community; they impact students on a daily basis in meaningful and mission-driven ways through their versatility. The After School Language Teacher is an important resource for language learning at Punahou School and is expected to have language fluency and some experience in designing curriculum that is appropriate for younger and inexperienced language students to converse and develop their competencies of the offered language. The goal of the class is to expose students to the language and culture using as much of the target language as possible. Students are placed in small age groups led by advanced Academy language students serving as teaching assistants and under the supervision of a faculty member. Our language classes provide an atmosphere where learning a second language is a positive and rewarding experience.

Position Details:

  • Work Year: 9 Month
  • School Year: 2024-2025
  • Work Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM, Hours may vary based on operational needs
  • Starting Hourly Rate*: $20.00/Hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • One (1) year of foreign language teaching experience in specific language.
  • Working with students from diverse backgrounds; an understanding of the developmental needs of multi-age student groups, sensitivity to each individual student’s needs; and ability to appreciate the variety of perspectives offered by individual viewpoints, disciplines and cultural understandings.

Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.
