JOIN OUR ‘OHANA
The Director of Pool & Beach will manage and oversee the Pool & Beach operation within the Food & Beverage division including food and beverage, retail, activities and cabana experience.
The Opportunity:
The Director of Pool & Beach will work closely with the Assistant Director, Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef and Director of Catering & Conference Services to design an effective menu and beverage list while ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price and attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments. They will assist in selecting, training, evaluating, leading, motivating, coaching, and disciplining all employees, supervisors and assistant managers in the Resort’s Pool & Beach departments to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met; long-range strategic planning for outlet operation. They will have the ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, promote and upsell to guests, customizing where necessary to meet and exceed guests’ needs and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts. The Director of Pool & Beach will control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control. Finally, they will observe physical condition of facilities and equipment in the Pool & Beach area and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed as well as maintain a safe working environment and abide by all health department regulations.
What We Look For:
Ideal candidates will have at least two-three years of department head managerial experience within food & beverage operations at a hotel/resort. The leader in this role will have excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage and support a staff of over 40 employees and managers, have an outgoing personality and the ability to interact with guests, colleagues and service providers in a warm, friendly manner. They must have reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language. Previous supervisory or management experience is essential. Thorough knowledge of service, cost control in F&B, labor controls, menu writing, maintenance and merchandising and accounting is essential. Some additional preferred qualifications for the role include a college degree specializing in hotel/restaurant management, flexible schedule, with ability to work overnights, weekends, and holidays and experience working in a union environment.
