Clinical Data Internship Overview:
Each intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to actively contribute to the organization, build a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, and the role Data Sciences plays at creating solutions for Lilly. Interns will interact with other Data Sciences professionals, including Lilly senior management. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. At the conclusion of the work period, each intern will present their project highlights, findings and general internship accomplishments to Data Sciences professionals. The role requires an in depth understanding of data collection, data flow management, data quality, data technology, dataset delivery and data standards.
Project opportunities are available in the following areas:
- Data Management
- Data Standards
- Data Analytics
- Clinical Study Database Development
- Electronic Clinical and Patient Reported Outcomes
Responsibilities:
Lilly internships last for 12 continuous weeks beginning in May or June. Each intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to actively contribute to the organization and build a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. Responsibilities during the internship may include, not limited to:
- Develop an understanding of processes and procedures within the Data and Analytics business unit
- Understand database structure, content and meaning
- Identify key data points and trends in data entry
- Analyze clinical data reports to allow for seamless downstream integration of data
- Develop and implement solutions to improve data efficiencies
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in and attending school, in a Masters program for Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Data and Analytics, Bioinformatics or related field
Desired Experience:
- Aptitude for applying technology solutions to business problems
- Strong Analysis/Problem Assessment Skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated Teamwork/Interpersonal Skills
- Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom
- Scientific/laboratory/healthcare background and/or experience
- Experience with common Excel functions
- Exposure to programming languages such as R, SAS, SQL and analytic tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
