About the role:

Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village is seeking an inspiring and dynamic Executive Chef whose star is on the rise to lead our culinary team with integrity and a commitment to excellence – and a sense of FUN. The culinary experience at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village is like no other Four Seasons in California. Renowned for its award-winning Restaurants & Bars, Westlake boasts 6 unique outlet experiences including:

  • Coin & Candor – California Brasserie defined by the flavors of its wood grill, best-in-season produce, house made breads, and share plate concept
  • Onyx – Modern Japanese sushi bar with premium quality fish flown in daily from Japan
  • Prosperous Penny – Speakeasy bar featuring hand crafted cocktails perfectly paired with light bites and traditional hearty bar indulgences
  • The Cove Pool, Kitchen & Bar – Los Angeles’ hottest new pool experience with an outdoor Baja Mediterranean restaurant that stands on its own as a culinary experience
  • Stir – Coffee bar with fresh salads, sandwiches and pastry delights featuring Loquat coffee
  • The Wellness Kitchen – A teaching and demonstration kitchen where Registered Dieticians partner with the Wellness Chef to help our guests learn how to create delicious meals that will improve their health, wellbeing and longevity.

In addition, the $20M Banquet operation is supported by 190,000 sq. ft. of event space with the capacity to hold anything from a 600 person wedding to a multi-day dynamic conference and everything in between.

The 5 kitchens feature ample space and are staffed by a large, talented and dedicated collection of Sous Chefs, Kitchen Leads and Line Cooks.

In 2024, the property was recognized for its creativity and craftsmanship with the honor of hosting the Four Seasons Food & Beverage Conference – the hotel served as THE epicenter for the brand’s Sr. Culinary, F&B and Catering leaders for a week-long celebration of the Art of EPIC.

What you will do:

  • Coordinate the selection, training, development, and evaluation of employees and managers in the Kitchen Department through effective management and leadership to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met; long-range strategic planning for outlet operation.
  • Effectively plan and develop menus for the hotel considering factors such as product availability, food and service cost, marketing conditions and business volume; assign prices for daily menus that result in net profit; participate in making decisions regarding printing, layout, posting, and distribution of menus while ensuring the correct preparation and presentation of a consistent level for all food items prepared through production and demonstration.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control while focusing on creative cost control and revenue generation solutions to maximize profit in the department, division and hotel.
  • Ensure that sanitation standards as set forth by Four Seasons, local, state, and federal regulations are in compliance as well as the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
  • Set up control systems which will assure quality and portion consistency and the ability to create proper purchasing specifications as well as monitor and review operating criteria and develop an awareness of the importance of food preparation and quality.
  • Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.

What you bring:

  • College degree preferably specializing in hotel/ restaurant management or culinary arts, or equivalent experience.
  • Five to seven years previous experience in multiple culinary/food and beverage department head positions.
  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • The ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems.
  • The ability to operate and utilize culinary production equipment and tools.
