Summary
Reports to the Production Line Leader, the FGF Production Team Leader of Packing is key production entry level leader responsible for providing leadership to the packing area while ensuring a consistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards set forth by FGF Brands. This Team Leader position is unique to the Packing Area of Food Production and is responsible for understanding, complying and leading all assigned production tasks. This Team Leader is required to abide by and ensure all safety requirements are followed. Required to ensure that the Packing Area is well maintained, clean and that all the required materials are available for the depositing operation. Required to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and ensure Team Members also follow GMP’s
Primary Responsibilities
Must lead by example, foster and develop an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Team Members.
Prepare and conduct pre-shift meetings (huddles) and provide feedback to Leadership
This Team Leader coaches, mentors and trains Team Members on FGF Culture, Organization, Teamwork, The Site Facility, Oven Operations, Mixers and all facets of Packing
Responsible for coordinating with the production department to ensure proper packing materials and ensuring proper product is being placed per a Manufactures Order (MO) maintaining quality and timelines
Responsible for controlling the Packing Critical Control Point (CCP) to Production standards.
This Team leader operates Food Packing labelling equipment ensuring the final product is to Visual Quality Standards (VQS) standards
Monitors and provides adjustments to the computerized packing equipment to ensure a quality product is produced consecutively and that all packing products utilized with minimal waste
Ensures Operations Management System (OMS) procedures are being followed maintaining a current inventory in the operating system
This Team Leader supports the orientation and training effort to ensure a new Team Member assimilates into an effective team
Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by monitoring Team Members on company standards and regular inspections.
The Team Leader is required to complete four “GEMBA” walks/tours of production a day. In lean manufacturing a “GEMBA refers to the factory floor where a product is made. The term originates from a Japanese word that means “the actual place.” Although its business usage origins are in manufacturing it is the location were leadership goes to observe the manufacturing process in action
Performs the responsibilities, tasks assigned with guidance from Leadership and may be asked to perform general labor duties when needed as well as be assigned additional duties by leadership
Determines and timely reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate Leadership
Must have the demonstrated ability or to develop the ability to communicate problems or issues that are occurring in the Packing area to the Production Leadership
Must have the demonstrated ability to advise Leadership when opportunities exist to improve the Packing area
When needed or as opportunities arise, work with Quality or Production Leadership on programs related to Lean Manufacturing and other quality tools
Must be willing to take on additional responsibilities and consistently demonstrate problem solving skills in order to excel within the company
Must follow the FGF Site attendance policy and must comply with the required call-in procedures
Must be dependable and comply with timely arrival and departure time habits including meals and breaks
Required to maintain a positive attitude and co-exist with all FGF Team Members
Must exhibit teamwork and willingness to help other FGF Team Members, strive to work within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards
Required to follow a FGF company dress code and maintain a professional appearance
Must be able to be relied and depended upon to complete assigned tasks
Required to comply with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Preferred but not required a minimum of 1 to 2 years of manufacturing environment or food/bakery experience
Attention to detail is a must and the ability to detect the presence of product issues or production issues
Ability to visually inspect product and materials
The ability to understanding or the ability to learn Food Manufacturing, Food Safety Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) requirements for this position
The ability to understanding or the ability to learn Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and learn all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for this position
The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
Physical capable of performing the demands of the role and position
Flexible to workdays, afternoons, nights and weekends if needed
Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English with all levels of the organization.
