Summary

The Manager of Human Resources and General Affairs is responsible for talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, labor relations, compliance, and the company’s community involvement. This position is the Senior on-site Human Resources Leader working closely with the local leadership team while reporting to Corporate Human Resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding.
  • Be the culture leader, ensuring transparency in communications and positive employee relations
  • Design and Implement employee retention strategies
  • Ensure organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Maintain HR systems and processes
  • Partner with Leadership to ensure HR goals are aligned with business initiatives.
  • Develop and review plant policies and procedures, employee appraisal systems, and other rules and regulations.
  • Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with local, state, and federal responsibilities.
  • Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities.
  • Review and analysis of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
  • Lead locations General Affairs Department.

  • Activities associated with developing management relations between Japanese and American managers and directors and team members
  • Lead & Participate in Community activities that will help Toray develop a positive image within the community.
  • Work closely with companies Expats ensuring a smooth transition for them into the U.S.

Skills and Specifications

  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position.
  • Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, basic understanding of state employment laws for assigned facility and federal employment laws. Ability to recruit effectively to fill positions at all levels of the company. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively will all levels of employees within the organization.

Education and Qualifications

  • Eight years of human resources experience mandatory, preferably in a plant or warehouse environment.
  • Three years of HR Leadership/Management experience strongly preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree is mandatory preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Business Management, or Organizational Development
  • SHRM Certification preferred

• This position involves working with technologies and information which are subject to U.S. export control regulations. Position requires the ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level necessary to successfully perform assigned responsibilities. Ability to utilize/operate a computer, peripheral equipment and appropriate software. The ability to hear, speak, use hands/fingers and the repetitive motions of hands/wrists are occasional. Vision requires the adjustment and focus of sight. Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment as necessary. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
