The DM Estate Staffing Team
A family of four (two adults and two children) in Atherton, CA, is seeking a talented and passionate Personal Chef to cook for them on a part-time basis. The hired candidate will prepare/serve dinners on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Saturdays and leave breakfast/lunch/dinners/snacks for the following day. Note that the hired chef can prepare some food items offsite in their home kitchen.
The family enjoys a variety of cuisines and elegant presentations; their preferences range from simple to more complex, and they always remain focused on healthy, local, organic foods. They would ideally like to find a Chef who is proficient in Japanese cuisine among others.

You are a Team Player with a consistently Positive Attitude! You’re highly professional and have the ability to take direction and accept constructive feedback. You have a history of longevity in current/past positions; you are a master of all things food, wine, and service.
Your culinary career has taken you around the world, and you’ve picked up a wealth of tricks along the way. Your years of experience cooking in top-notch restaurants and serving prominent families have helped to hone your ability to work in a thoughtful and refined fashion; you understand the importance of professional boundaries and have a service heart.
- Part-time
- Served dinners: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays + prep for following days
- Local chefs only, please
- Start date: ASAP
- NOTE: the family travels 4-6 weeks per year; the hired chef will not be paid while they are away but will receive ample notice.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve three/four-course restaurant-caliber dinners
- Prepare breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks for the following day
- Occasional dinner parties
- Grocery shopping for all food items
- Organize and manage the kitchen/food pantry
- Kitchen sanitation/organization
- Set dining table, serve meals
Applicant Requirements:
- At least 3+ years of experience working in top-notch restaurants and/or private households
- Must have elevated table service skills
- Should be open to having curious children in the kitchen!
- COVID vaccination
- Must be discreet, organized, and sensitive to client’s needs
- Longevity in past positions
- Able to work legally in the United States
- Must be able to pass an in-depth background investigation
Compensation:
- $60-$65 per hour | DOE
- Guaranteed hours except when client is traveling
Qualified candidates will be scheduled for several paid trial days.
