Rosella is hiring sushi prep cook / line cooks!

Compensation is a competitive hourly rate of $15, with consistent added gratuity. A full-time prep chef/ line cook can expect to make between 50 – 55k yearly.

Are you interested in learning to be a sushi chef? Rosella is an intimate 28 seat sushi bar in Kennebunkport. We focus on serving locally sourced new American sushi with a menu that highlights often overlooked, domestic species with an emphasis on locally caught fish and shellfish. Some species come from sustainable farms, while others are wild-caught through methods with minimal environmental impact.

We are looking for a prep cook / line cook who is interested in deepening their knowledge of sushi.

Rosella is hiring a fulltime employee who would come in late morning/early afternoon to do prep and stay through part of service where they would cross train, and build their skillset at making sushi, helping the team through the busier first hours of service and help to stage to go orders. Responsibilities include:

  • A passion for sushi and Japanese cuisine
  • An interest in learning more about American fish and their application for sushi.
  • Prepping and executing food and recipes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
  • Executing food at high level in a timely manner
  • Cleaning and cooking rice
  • Being an organized team player who can manage a prep list and communicate needs
  • Keeping stock of ingredients and ordering
  • The ability to work under pressure and function in an open kitchen
  • Excellent time-management skills

Expected skills:

    • Basic knife skills and a fundamental understanding of culinary technique. (experience in a professional kitchen is preferred, sushi or Japanese is a plus).
    • Ability to pick up new skills quickly
