The Preventative Maintenance Tech is responsible for making sure that the machines and equipment are always in perfect working conditions. The general role of this technician position is to service and repair production machinery to prevent any major break down that might disrupt smooth operation of the company’s activities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment to prevent mechanical failure.
- Change worn out parts of machines before they lead to major mechanical damage.
- Identify any mechanical fault that may lead to major break down of machines and suggest best ways to mitigate further problem.
- The preventive activities of a technician in this role may include, but are not limited to, maintaining correct fluid levels on machines by checking the pneumatic lines, oil and water line, and/or steam lines.
- Checking on wear and tear on equipment parts, such as shaft alignment and belts.
- Assist the supervisor in project planning and may be expected to recommend cost effective ways of maintaining facilities while still keeping to established standards.
- Maintain accurate record of all his work activities, materials bought, and extra cost incurred.
- Prepare and present periodic reports to the supervisor or management.
- Maintain good communication with the members of the technical team and the management.
- Comply with all necessary safety measures in the course of performing his/her duties so as to prevent accident or injury that may lead to loss of life or damage to facility equipment or materials.
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Check blueprints and/or repair manuals as necessary to maintain continuous operation of equipment.
- Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventative maintenance actions.
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straight edges.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude/experience with hands-on work
- Basic mathematics skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use strong skills in analyzing, troubleshooting and evaluating problems.

The sixth UGN facility in Monroe, Ohio, officially opened in September 2015. The state-of-the-art facility has more than 475 team members and supplies Honda Motor Co. with superior acoustic insulation, carpet, and underfloor technologies. In the fall of 2018, UGN expanded the Monroe plant by adding another 150,000 square feet to the $50 million, 232,500 square foot facility to supply Toyota and Subaru. The UGN Monroe facility has already distinguished itself to Honda for exceptional service.
