We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Private Chef to join a vibrant, busy family based in downtown New York. This full-time position offers the unique opportunity to create and manage the culinary experiences for a family of five, with frequent summer travel to Aspen and the Hamptons. The ideal candidate will embrace the challenge of catering to sophisticated dietary preferences (largely Pescatarian and vegetarian) while ensuring all meals are fresh, nutritious, and artfully prepared. In this open kitchen environment, it’s critical that chefs exude warmth and positivity, as you will be a key part of a happy, positive household. This role demands a chef who can seamlessly integrate into the family’s lifestyle, providing exceptional meals that are both delicious and in line with specific nutritional guidelines.

The family values creativity and flexibility in their culinary routine, with a strong preference for meals that are high in protein, low in sugars and unhealthy fats, and creatively incorporate a variety of global flavors and a range of cuisines. If you have experience working in some of NYC’s best restaurants such as Nobu, Marc Forgione, and any of the Jean-Georges restaurants, you could be an excellent fit.

  • Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, lunch and dinner
  • Start Date Timeline: Flexible for the right candidate
  • Travel: Roughly 6-8 weeks per year with advance notice
  • Open to candidates outside of New York City – but must have some connection or desire to be there


  • Prepare daily fresh seasonal meals for a family of five, including extended family and guests as needed.
  • Adhere to specific dietary requirements, focusing on pescatarian and lacto-ovo vegetarian cuisines with an emphasis on organic, locally sourced produce and sustainably raised proteins.
  • Manage severe nut allergy restrictions within the household, ensuring safe food handling procedures.
  • Skillfully prepare a variety of dishes from savory to desserts and baked goods.
  • Conduct grocery shopping and provisioning, selecting only the freshest ingredients.
  • Maintain inventory control of kitchen supplies and manage the kitchen’s operational budget.
  • Plan and execute meals for various occasions from intimate family gatherings to large formal events.
  • Travel with the family to secondary residences, ensuring meal continuity and quality.
  • Organize and prepare travel meals, including specific arrangements for airplane dining.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-managed kitchen and pantry environment.
  • Flexible scheduling to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holiday coverage as necessary.


  • At least 3 years of experience as a private chef, with a focus on high-quality, healthy global cuisine.
  • High-end restaurant and/or Michelin star restaurant experience is a must!
  • Culinary degree from an accredited institution preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines, with a special emphasis on International flavors including Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, and Middle Eastern.
  • Strong organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent references from previous employment within similar roles.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization and a clean driving record are essential.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $150,000-$200,000 per year
  • 10 days of paid vacation
