Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing department and customer support on quality assurance related issues and coordinating functions related to quality product concerns at customer sites, under general direction from the Quality Manager.
Quality Engineer is the customer contact for product defects. This position has responsibility to perform product checks and rework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide customer focused support, to include daily contact with the customer and patrol the production line to investigate or coordinate quality problems or issues.
- Assess and determine defective part containment, sorting, and repair to include, analyzing corrective action.
- Lead and coordinate quality functions regarding Quality Assurance visits with the customer or related manufacturing locations.
- Supervise and train any temporary personnel assigned to the facility for re-work, sorting, or other Quality issues.
- Responsible for processing and completing related documentation (Line Patrol Daily Report, Defective product report, G-QICS, Rework procedure manual etc.) for manufacturing plant, customer, or corporate office.
- Provide technical knowledge with concepts, while assessing and determining operation requirements for process, product and/or manufacturing.
- Understand the cost of quality maintenance and bill the customer or internal.
- Support new Model Development attend new model events at customer, work with program manager to ensure that all customer requirements are met and submitted in a timely manner.
- Lead new model representation at customer for Quality and Engineering requirements, ensure that all relevant information is reviewed and submitted to customer.
- Other miscellaneous and various jobs/projects as directed by manager.
- May be required to work outside of standard hours to resolve quality issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of company quality system required.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Motivated & detail oriented.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must have flexibility to work non-standard work week when required.
- Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Proficient using MS Office.
- Strict adherence to company policies, procedures and standards is required.
- Must have the ability to communicate in Japanese.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or Industrial.
- At least 2 years of experience in quality work in a manufacturing environment.
- One (1) year of wire harness experience, preferred.
- Must be Bilingual (English/Japanese).
