Essential Job Functions
• Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse and distribution mission in an effective and efficient manner. Interviews and recommends applicants for hire as warehouse associates and/or drivers.
• Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of warehouse associates/drivers; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary.
• Evaluates the performance of warehouse operations and distribution for accuracy and efficiency and streamlines the procedures.
• Monitors material handling by warehouse associates/drivers from receiving to distribution and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory procedures, including DOT, OSHA, and FDA (HACCP).
• Responsible for printing pick lists, releasing orders, and printing invoices using the system.
• Confirms all orders are shipped out daily.
• Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. Oversees the rotation of inventories within the warehouse.
• Responsible for day-to-day coordination of truck drivers’ delivery routes and loading.
• Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports. Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry. Oversees the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse and/or distribution in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.
• Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the warehouse and distribution mission in a safe, effective manner. Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials. Researches material handling equipment to ensure procurement of the most suitable equipment in terms of performance, safety, reliability, and cost.
• Responsible for all truck and forklift maintenance.
• Meets with other managers and supervisors to discuss products, receiving/shipping times, and distribution issues among many other concerns.
• Anticipates and requests funding for future personnel requirements. Anticipates and requests funding for future material handling equipment.
• Responsible for semiannual inventory count (possibly on a weekend).
• Attend company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
• Obligation to respond to all management as requested.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to handle and move up to 165 pounds assisted occasionally
• Ability to drive for a majority of the daily working hours (secondary)
• Working Conditions – open busy area with equipment noises
Other Requirements
• Business level English – Read/write/speak/listen
• Other language such as Spanish, Korean, Japanese preferred
• To have and maintain a clean driving record
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and afterhours as needed
• High school Diploma required
• B.S. or B.A. in business management, industrial management or related field preferred
• 10+ years of warehousing experience preferred
• 7+ years of supervisory experience preferred
