POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Guest Experience Representative (Japanese/English Speaking)
REPORTS TO: Leisure Sales Manager
POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt. Potential to transition to Full-Time, Hourly based on business and operational needs.
PAY RATE: $20/hour
START DATE: ASAP, must have full availability (7 days/week for AM and PM shifts)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Bilingual Guest Experience Representative is responsible for facilitating effective communication between individuals or groups. Interpreters are expected to use their language proficiency, cultural knowledge, and translation skills to translate spoken and/or written material from one language to another while maintaining accuracy and clarity.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
- Interpret between Japanese speaking guests and The LineUp staff.
- Receive group tour reservations and enter them into Fare Harbor.
- Assist in the group tour check in process, answer questions, provide direction & instruction on guest activity assignments.
- Meet and greet the guests upon arrival to Wai Kai to kick off and maintain a positive guest experience.
- Ability to confidently handle guest escalations and resolve matters as they arise.
- Provide interpretation for various onsite meetings as well as telephone and/or web conferences.
- Translate technical and non-technical documents including policies, instructions, and manuals when necessary.
- Compose and translate emails, reports, etc.
- Required to translate both Japanese to English and English to Japanese.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Written and verbal fluency in Japanese and English, excellent communication and writing skills.
- Japanese/English business language skills.
- Interpreter/Translator experience in a hospitality and tourism environment.
- Ability to translate quickly and accurately.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Education and Experience:
- One to two years of experience in a Japanese/English interpreter role, preferred Associate’s degree.
- Preferred one to two years’ experience in hospitality and tourism.
