Job Summary

The Registration Assistant is part of the City’s Burgundy Brigade in the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). The Burgundy Brigade is a vital link between meeting planners, convention delegates, exhibitors, visitors, hotels and the City of Grapevine. Often, the Burgundy Brigade may be the one contact that a visitor has with Destination Grapevine. They are hospitality specialists who serve in different capacities and extend the hand of friendship to our visitors while being an extension of their organization or destination partners.

Essential Functions

1. Provides temporary staffing during meetings and special events.

2. Sorts, collates and assembles convention packets or bags, registers attendees, operates badge checkers/scanner, provides human arrow directional assistance, provides payment processing, answers phone and provides Grapevine activity, attraction, dining and lodging information.

3. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

4. Timely attendance is required for this position.

5. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

Required Skills

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Must have excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work for long hours and stand for extended periods of time (minimum of four hours at a time).
• Must be comfortable using assorted technology and computer software, i.e. Laptop or Desktop Computers, iPads, Microsoft Office Suite, Payment Processing Software and Scanning Equipment. On the job training will be provided but may be limited so the ideal candidate will need to be able to quickly adapt.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

Bilingual or multi-lingual skills are desirable (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese) but not required.

Must be able to work various times, including some nights, weekends, and holidays. Expected to work between 150 to 1,000 hours per calendar year.

Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as defined by city policy.

Ability to pass typing test of 30 WPM.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
