Position: Routing Engineer – Wire Harness Design
Location: Saline, MI (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Who We’re Looking For
eShocan’s Electronic Systems Engineering Department is seeking a dedicated and innovative Routing Engineer. This role is essential in designing wire harness components and packaging wire harnesses for deployment on vehicles under eShocan’s responsibility, ensuring quality and performance across multiple mobility platforms.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Wire Harness Design: Responsible for the routing of wire harnesses and developing related components to meet quality, performance, cost, and timing requirements.
- Collaborative Engineering: Work with internal, external, and international stakeholders in cross-functional teams to design packaging structures and solve complex engineering problems.
- Project Management: Lead part development to meet targets for cost, mass, and performance from project initiation through production start.
- 3D Modeling and Drawing Preparation: Utilize CATIA v5 for 3D design data and Zuken E3 (CR5000) CAD software for 2D drawings.
- Problem Solving: Apply the TBP process to break down engineering problems and contribute to obeya meetings with commodity engineers and suppliers.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive process documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Communication: Maintain clear, frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders, including management, project leaders, manufacturing teams, and suppliers.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
- Experience:
- 5+ years in vehicle development with demonstrated experience in collaborating with suppliers.
- Fundamental understanding of vehicle development and manufacturing processes, especially wire harness manufacturing challenges.
- Experience supporting production vehicle trials.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in CATIA v5 for 3D data and drawing preparation.
- Strong planning, scheduling, multi-tasking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Toyota in all stages of vehicle development (Full Model Change or Major-Minor Model Change).
- Deep understanding of wire harness development and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in designing electrical systems, including wire harness routing and specifications.
- Japanese language proficiency is a plus.
