Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences offers instruction in the following languages and cultures: American Sign Language, Arabic, Asian Languages, Chinese, Foreign Language Education, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Portuguese, Romance Languages, Russian, and Spanish.
With more than 400 full-time faculty and 8,500 degree-seeking students, the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences prepares the next generation of leaders in a wide array of fields to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century and become contributing citizens in a global society. The home of three Schools and eight Departments, the College offers more than 80 graduate and undergraduate programs of study in both traditional and interdisciplinary fields. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Asian Studies in the Department of World Languages and Cultures with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position.
The Asian Studies Program offers courses at all levels in Asian cultures and Asian languages, a B.A. Program in Asian Studies, an Asian Studies Minor, a BA-MBA Double Owl Pathway, and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in Asia Certificate.
This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate courses in English on Asian cultures as part of the Asian Studies B.A. program, delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Courses include ASIA1102 Introduction to Asian Cultures, ASIA3001 Understanding Asia, and specialized courses based on the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Service to the Program/ Department/ College/ University/ professional community.
- Sustained efforts to recruit, retain, and mentor students in a growing Asian Studies program.
- Strong scholarship with a consistent agenda of scholarship/creative activity including peer-reviewed publications.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Asian Studies, Asian Cultures, Asian Languages, or a related discipline, is required. ABD will be considered; however, the degree must be earned by the start date.
- Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience in Asian Studies or related fields.
- Evidence of a productive research agenda in Asian Studies or related fields.
- Native or near-native fluency in English.

Background Check
