SUMMARY:

MEPUSA, a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., is an E&P company with substantial investments in onshore oil and gas assets located in the United States. The Accounting & Finance department is seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Sr. Manager to manage the organization’s budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, Treasury, and internal reporting requirements, as well as to provide support for operations and finance matters. The FP&A Director acts as a business partner to internal departments and is a key member of the leadership team. Responsibilities include direct interaction with operations personnel to create budgets and forecasts, to monitor and report actual performance, to perform financial modeling, to oversee cash management activities, to support internal reporting requirements, and to perform special projects and provide other support as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be willing to work in different capacities, foster a positive team environment, and mentor and oversee the work of others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage budgeting and forecasting efforts
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial models to meet stakeholder needs and create efficiencies
  • Analyze data to identify trends and variances impacting financial results
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual management and financial results reporting
  • Respond to information requests from internal departments and 3rd parties
  • Lead Treasury and cash management activities, including communications with 3rd party banks
  • Support hedge strategy and document and report hedging activities
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of the business, its operations, and key issues
  • Support business development opportunities and other transformation and growth initiatives
  • Coordinate with other departments to accomplish objectives
  • Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive finance experience in the oil & gas industry
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, or finance is required, MBA preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, Spotfire, and / or Power BI for data analysis and visualization
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

  • High-end communication and presentation skills, including use of visual aids
  • Good knowledge of oil & gas operations and financial modeling & analysis
  • Strong work ethic, capable of self-monitoring, and being self-directed
  • Good attention to detail, analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of dealing with diverse groups of people, maintains an appreciation for different cultures, and patience when dealing with the unfamiliar
  • Ability to work through complex and tedious issues within the context of understanding MEPUSA is part of a large global enterprise with both geographic and business segment diversity

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Japanese or Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
