Bilingual (Japanese) Production Planning & Control Specialist

Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California.

We are currently seeking a Bilingual Production Planning & Control Specialist located in Mineral Wells, West Virginia reporting directly to the Production Planning and Control Assistant Manager. This individual will be responsible for administering controls of the Production Control Operations and building teamwork to drive continuous improvement of scheduling processes, control and handling of inventories, and on-time delivery and costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage domestic and overseas parts procurement while maintaining inventory at optimum levels
• Facilitate setup and ordering of new parts
• Serve as primary point of contact with suppliers for reconciling orders, resolving discrepancies, and expediting orders
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to ensure required part volume and timing are met
• Manage engineering changes for the lowest obsolescence
• Achieve all indicators of success and performance measures for area of responsibility
• Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System as it applies to their area of responsibility
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
• Coordinate design requests with Suppliers
• Demonstrates an understanding of quality issues and proactive resolution to the issue
• Leads special projects, as assigned
• Provides guidance and leadership to less senior personnel within the department
• Attend video conferences as required
• Position requires office presence
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, or related field or equivalent years of related experience is preferred.
• Three years’ experience or equivalent education in scheduling/procurement/ production control
• Experience with production scheduling or parts procurement is preferred
• Experience with project management preferred
• Japanese language proficiency is highly desired

Required Skills:

• Experience with Production Planning and Control departmental processes
• Knowledge of plan-making and project evaluation
• Strong MS Outlook and computer proficiency required
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and under the pressure of deadlines
• Ability to work in or lead teams throughout decision making process
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to present and explain complex data using visual and graphical representations
• Must be willing and able to perform a variety of tasks in support of the short- and long-term goals
• Deal effectively with complex and sensitive issues
• Ability to think in the abstract and see how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
• High level of attention to detail
• Strong organizational and data management skills
• Must be able to work independently •
