We are looking for an experienced Freezer Lead to join our coming soon branch in Houston, Texas. In this important role, you will be responsible for leading the freezer team to perform efficient warehouse functions in freezer. You will work in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment that continuous progress is highly regarded.

Essential Job Functions
• Leads freezer day-to-day activities to assure accuracy of assembling and workflow efficiency
• Monitors workers’ productivity, assesses their performance, inspects their work to meet the specified standards, detects areas that need to be improved, and gives workers detailed feedback on their performance in order to make them aware and do better
• Provides training to new hires and assigns specific tasks to each worker
• Ensures the work environment is healthy and conducive for workers to carry out their duties without subjecting themselves to any harm or danger
• Assists in interviewing and hiring qualified workers with the management approval
• Instructs company rules and regulations to workers, ensures they adhere to company policies, and takes disciplinary measures when necessary
• Keeps employees’ attendance and performance records to help management determine the merit increase and rewards
• Ensures all work equipment is functional and available; inspects equipment to identify shortages and damages; relates findings to management for quick resolution that assures minimum distractions of operations flow
• Orders new equipment and supplies as directed by management; inspects deliveries to ensure the quality and quantity is correct
• Resolves conflicts that may arise between workers, and ensures all parties involved are treated fairly without bias
• Picks and assembles orders as indicated on the pick list in an efficient and timely manner
• Works with receiving to unload freezer items from delivery trucks in a timely manner
• Inspects received products for damage and volume accuracy and documents accordingly
• Accurately stocks inventory in the assigned warehouse location and rotates product inventory to maintain a First-IN, First-OUT (FIFO) food storage system
• Partakes in warehouse upkeep and ensures the freezer is clean and organized
• Participates in the weekly warehouse meetings
• Collaborates with other departments in the office to assist their needs or inquiries
• Attends semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend
• Provides logistics support for Company events and functions outside of normal working hours
• Other duties as required from manager
• Obligation to answer to all management as requested

Physical Requirements
• Able to work without sitting for extended periods of time, including standing and walking
• Able to talk, hear, climb, balance, reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Able to handle and move 50+ pounds assisted frequently
• Specific vision abilities are required, including close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and maintain clarity.
• Working Conditions

  • Noise Level: Loud while indoors
  • Required to wear company provided insulated freezer suit while in freezer
  • Freezing temperatures between -20 and -10 degrees Fahrenheit

Other Requirements
• Business level English required;
• Other language such as Spanish, Korean, Japanese, or Chinese preferred
• Able to work weekends, holidays, afterhours, and 2nd Shift as needed
• Sit-down and reach truck forklift certified required
• Maintains a positive attitude
• Works efficiently and independently in a team
• Able to manage and lead the team to deliver the required outcome
• Adapts to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2+ years of warehouse or relevant experiences in the food industry required; minimum 1 year experience in freezer (temperature under -10F) or freezer management experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
• Has strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates awareness of proper warehouse safety procedures
• Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors preferred
