ESSENTIAL DUTIES inCustomer Service Assistant Department Lead(responsibilities include, but are not limited to):
l Managing a team of employees along with the Department Lead
l Scheduling of employees (approving/rejecting time off request etc.)
l Placing daily/weekly orders with the guidance of the Department Lead
l Computer skills (using spreadsheets, placing orders, making schedule, etc)
l Providing excellent customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions to all customers and staff
l Responds quickly and in a friendly manner to customer inquiries and complaints
l Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
l Ability to bag merchandise
l Assists in returning shopping carts and baskets to designated areas
l Reports all irregular issues and problems to the Department Lead for solutions
l Exceeds Customer Service Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures
l Opens & closes assigned cash registers
l Counts opening and closing cash and other transactions for assigned register
l Checks IDs for tobacco and alcohol transactions
l Processes purchases quickly and efficiently
l Process returns and credits customers utilizing the Company’s return policy procedures
l Conducts transactions professionally
l Works various shifts, days or nights as assigned by Department Lead in accordance with the Company’s business needs
l Organizes and stocks Customer Service display areas per store’s layouts, planograms and standards
l Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Customer Service Section according to company standards
l Proactively supports any promotional activity within the store and contributes to an effective working environment
l Ensures that all Customer Service products are in its right place, so employees and shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily
l Maintains good communication with Store Management/Department Lead, associates and suppliers/vendors
Customer Service:
l Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions
l Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
l Meets or exceeds Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures
l Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
l Ensures a safe and clean work environment
Cross Training:
l Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
l High School Diploma or GED equivalent
l Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.
l Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper
l A minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
l Experience as a Customer Service Assistant Lead is preferred
l Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one
l Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without aid
l Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water and various fruits and vegetables while performing job duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
l Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
l Able to read, write, and do simple math problems
l Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
l Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management
l Ability to interact with all levels of management
l Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler’s Certificate
