What You’ll Do

As Inventory Control Specialist, at our Chicago facility, Midwest Food Services, your primary role is to maintain the accuracy of warehouse inventory by ensuring that physical counts and barcode storage locations match with a 95%+ accuracy rate. Your role is not just ensuring the quality of products but also safeguarding the trust that customers put in us.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting daily cycle counts with the goal of counting every location within the warehouse quarterly.
  • Researching customer shipment complaints (shortage, overage) to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Assisting with quality check while maintaining inventory objectives.
  • Assisting with overseeing the disposal of expired products and adjust inventory accordingly.
  • Assisting in generating reports requested by management.
  • Communicating inbound inventory issues to buyers.
  • Conducting random audits on outbound shipments.
  • Understanding Quality Control procedures.
  • Supporting ERP/PDA scanner testing.
  • Maintaining Warehouse organization.
  • Auditing allergen inventory to prevent cross contamination of product.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements for the role:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in various temperatures as cold as -10 °F.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Basic Microsoft Word & Excel Skills
  • Minimum of a 1 years of inventory control experience (preferred)
  • Previous Warehouse experience in the food industry a plus
