Job Purpose
Lead the overall operational management of assigned production area through mentoring, planning, problem solving, and continuous improvement, in alignment with current manufacturing systems, daily operations, new model, business plan, and/or innovation to achieve or exceed targets and promote associate success.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and or actively participate in department initiatives such as BP, FSI, Mono-Z to gain or share knowledge, promote continuous improvement and foster engagement for area of responsibility.
- Manage team performance (SEQDCM) through scorecard, visual management, monthly reporting, performance management and PDCA to close performance gaps.
- Optimize manpower utilization to established DPC to share resources needed to support unplanned activities/tasks (support other departments, repair, inventory management, training, classroom, 5S, etc.).
- Continually develop communication networks both within the department as well as other departments to ensure product and department success.
- Lead and support collaborate problem solving and c/m activity by proactively cycling PDCA to reduce outflow of defects and establish continuous improvement to effectively communicate with management.
- Implement department guidelines/policies/procedures consistently to ensure associate expectations are clearly understood.
- Develop capability of self and team through training, mentoring and sharing of experiences in area of technical expertise and understanding for succession planning and to increase team workload capacity.
- Ensure team readiness for new technologies/new model introductions to minimize impact to production results.
- Communicate clearly through daily reporting to ensure shift-to-shift understanding of activity and pending items.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Targeted range: 6-10 years production experience
Meets or exceeds requirement for Exempt 2
- ActivPlant knowledge
- Dealing with conflict and empowerment to escalate (Consensus building skills)
- Crisis management (PPA development) with in department
- Knowledge of Honda / Japanese culture and terminology
- Business Plan Knowledge
- Nonconforming procedure – Knowledge of QMS
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Developing & Reporting Delivery Metrics (Cycle Time, Process Cycle Time, Prod
- Loss Plan) within zone of responsibility
- Cost Reporting (EQ, Investment, Expense, Start-up, Manpower) within zone of responsibility
- Demonstrated knowledge of the SEQCDM guidelines/requirements within zone of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team dynamics within zone of responsibility
- Effectively develop team capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to respond immediately to production floor needs and requirements
Workstyle
- Will require standing for long durations of time
- Able to work in a fast pace production area
- Able to work in an environment with varying temperatures
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- 0-10% travel requirement for training and offsite support as needed
- Daily, weekly, weekend and holiday overtime is required and will vary
- Able to work varying/rotating shifts for extended periods of time if requested
- Ability to perform production line work and work online as needed
