Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$142,500 – $209,000

Position Overview:

The Statistician/Data Science role is responsible for technical contributions and consulting in the fields of causal inference, statistics, and machine learning for LillyUSA.

The Statistician/Data Scientist will be part of a growing and dynamic team of analytics professionals whose main goal is to help our business partners achieve their goals through data analytics enablement. You will use your deep understanding of causal inference, statistics, and AI/ML to develop innovative analytics solutions driving business impact across LillyUSA. The position will be responsible for partnering and collaborating across a wide group of cross functional partners. This analytics professional will be responsible for ensuring business decisions are backed by data driven insights and recommendations from analytics.

The position will report to the Sr. Director – Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) HCP Data Science.

Key Objectives:

  • Be an inspiring leader in data and advanced analytics aligned with the critical objectives of LillyUSA.
  • Effectively answer data science questions, build ML pipelines, and integrate results that align to improving patient reach and outcomes. Align advanced AI/ML techniques with stakeholder objectives and goals.
  • Build and maintain testing frameworks and embed a testing culture that rapidly tests, measures, and iterates. Promote and plan designed variance (prospective designed experiments, A/B tests, natural or business case variance) to test engagement impact and outcomes.
  • Provide input on patient outcomes/impact, biases, and trade-offs between types of models and tools and support analytics team in validating assumptions and interpreting models and outputs
  • Translate analytics outcomes into business insights to guide business decisions.
  • Articulate analytics value proposition to stakeholders and identify novel analytics use case opportunities to expand the use of analytics.
  • Foster analytics innovation for LillyUSA by sourcing innovative analytics concepts from external partners, other functions in the organization, etc.
  • Stay current with latest statistics and AI/ML methodologies.

Basic Requirements:

  • PhD in Statistics, Economics, or equivalent quant degree
  • Master’s with 3+ additional years of full-time hands-on experience in Statistics/Data Science.

Preferences

  • Strong analytical skills, coupled with business acumen, and an ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment.
  • Proficiency with relevant programming languages (R and/or Python).
  • No CPP or GPP violations over the most recent two-year period
  • Expertise in causal inference or designed experiments.
  • Ability to use statistics and machine learning techniques to solve real-world business problems.
  • Experience with healthcare data is a plus.
  • High level of motivation and a strong desire to find creative solutions to challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate and communicate advanced analytics concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent prioritization skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work across teams and build Team Lilly culture.
