This position is responsible for devising ways that products and services can be designed to fit customer’s needs. This position is also responsible for providing technical support for the sales team, handling engineering/QC/QA related and requests, and business development/R&D department development support.

[Job Overview]
Essential Job Functions:
Engineering
• Drawing rough sketches and performing mathematical computations to develop design and work out detailed specifications of components
• Design creates quotes applying knowledge of mathematical computations to develop design and work out detailed specifications of components for seat heater and steering heater.
• Builds, inspects, and ships prototype parts. Revising size, shape, and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings
• Ensures that the technical side of new product development tracks projected schedule, including engineering development and documentation, event prototype build, production line development, quality engineering documentation etc.
• Reviewing customer source control drawings, specification control drawings, and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of product
• Diagnoses and resolves any issues related to the equipment/material supply in engineering department: Time requirement varies depending on magnitude of issue.
• Involves in quality engineering related issues as needed, including resolving customer issues, PPAP documentation, etc.
• Creates various reports, includes monthly report and customer requested status report to management.
• Interacting with vendors and customers on engineering related inquiries and presentations. Involves in translation between English and Japanese as needed.
• Assisting with the preparation of proposal documentation, technical data such as qualification test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc.
• Communicates design requirements with customers. Provides recommendations, suitable specs and drawing that meets their technical requirements.
• Draws product design by utilizing Auto CAD and CATIA.
• Communicates design, materials, test evaluation and cost calculation with Kurabe Japan. Gathers information and makes various reports.
• Performing preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings, adequate for detailing parts and unites of design for new proposals and current designs.
• Mentoring less-experienced Engineers.
• Performs heater testing, creates test reports and provides explanations of contents to customers and Kurabe Japan headquarter engineers.
• Keeping manager advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress on all assignments.
• Performing other work-related duties as assigned
Other & Miscellaneous
• Make efforts to gain product knowledge and familiarize yourself with the product markets.
• Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
• Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Manager.
• Reports to work daily (M-F) based on company schedule and complies with all company policies and procedures.
• Travels on a regular basis by both car and plane to meet customers.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.
• Maintains good communication with supervisors, staff members and outside contacts.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.
• Research local materials for production and sample making

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred; or 3+ years of engineering related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
