JOB SUMMARY:

Bar Manager oversees all aspects of the bar operations, ensuring exceptional service and beverage offerings that align with the restaurant’s standards of excellence. Your responsibilities will include managing the bar team, curating the beverage menu, maintaining inventory levels, and providing leadership to deliver an unforgettable bar experience for our guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead and supervise the bar team, including bartenders, barbacks, and bar preps, to ensure smooth and efficient operations during service hours
  • Develop and maintain high-quality beverage programs, including cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer selections, that complement Zuma’s culinary offerings and reflect current industry trends
  • Create and update seasonal cocktail menus, ensuring a diverse and innovative selection of drinks that appeal to a broad range of tastes and preferences
  • Train and mentor bar staff on beverage preparation techniques, product knowledge, and service standards to ensure consistent quality and guest satisfaction
  • Monitor inventory levels of bar supplies, including alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and glassware, and place orders as needed to maintain adequate stock levels and minimize waste
  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures for bar cleanliness, organization, and sanitation, in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and negotiate favorable pricing terms for beverage purchases
  • Monitor beverage sales, analyze trends, and identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization, collaborating with the management team to implement strategies for improvement
  • Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints related to the bar, resolving issues promptly and courteously to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily specials, menu changes, and service expectations
  • Assist in training new staff members and providing ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and other furnishings
  • Oversee the closing procedures, including cash handling, reconciliation, and securing the premises
  • Collaborate with other managers to ensure seamless coordination between FOH and Kitchen operations
  • Follow Zuma’s service standards and protocols, including uniform guidelines, grooming standards, and service etiquette
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role in a high-volume bar or restaurant environment
  • Extensive knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, and beer, with a passion for mixology and beverage craftsmanship
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing alcohol service and responsible beverage consumption
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and staff
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and professionally
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations and service standards
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic administrative tasks
  • Passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required
