The Product Engineer (PE) will be responsible for entire life cycle of the P P handlers – from introduction of P P handlers to customers, documenting their needs, coordination with R D throughout the development phase, execution of evaluation to after sales support. The successful candidate will have experience in both software and hardware. Ability to work with diverse international development team is essential for success and a proactive work ethic is a must with excellent written and verbal communication and capability to travel domestic and international.

Responsibilities include:

Work with customers and account managers to understand and document handling requirements and lead development efforts to successful and on-time conclusions.

Handler support responsibilities will include:
• Understand and communicate customers’ technical requirements and schedule goals to Advantest handler business unit.
• Develop and document handler specs for product families
• Design and develop prototypes for customer special project/evaluations. support procurement and test. Publish product validation reports.
• Using industry knowledge to come up with unique product ideas
• Coordinating with the product development team to finalize product ideas
• Drive failure analysis investigations, publish findings and implement corrective actions.
• Work with factory to drive diagnostics improvements.

PE will support Field Service activities including
• Assist with customer New Product Introduction (NPI) data collection,
• Lead customer improvement projects
• Collection and presentation of handler performance data
• Site preparation consultation
• On-site installation of new system, repairs
• Lead internal training to FS and TSU

Testing product prototypes to adjust design flaws and identify potential safety hazards

Physical requirements:
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance and be able to bend into machinery without restrictions.
• Transport parts or equipment (assistance available when lifting item(s) over 25 lbs.).
• System repair/servicing requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting and occasionally working in unusual positions using full body mobility.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • BS in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience with demonstrated skill in the job description items.
  • Fluent in English

Additional Skills Preferred (but not required):

  • Practical experience – supporting ATE equipment, testers, and handlers an advantage
  • Experience with thermal software, evaluation, and instrumentation
  • Japanese language
