Description
The major purpose of this position is to aid a new faculty, Dr. Miyoshi, as a laboratory technician during the start-up. This is a 50% FTE, Term, Administrative/Professional Appointment in the Department of Physiology.

Duties include:
- Mouse colony maintenance
- Basic molecular biology and cell biology experiments
- General laboratory management
- Training of new laboratory members
- Participation in laboratory meetings
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: The position requires (1) a BA/BS degree in Biological Sciences or (2) a BA/BS in any field and a will to learn basic experimental techniques in molecular and cell biology. Applicants must be able or willing to handle mice.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in laboratory work including mouse colony management. Excellent skills in clerical work including the accounting service are highly desired to manage ordering and to help lab members prepare budget plans in grant proposals. Skills in foreign languages, specifically Japanese, are preferable because this laboratory has international collaborative research projects with Japanese researchers.
