    Job Summary

    Provides excellent customer service to prospective and current international students. Answers student and community questions via telephone, email, and in-person. Assists coordinator with international student admission processing and SEVIS compliance. Provides overall support to the International Student Program.

    Essential Duties

    1. Provides customer service, support, and guidance when assisting applicants, students, their parents, and agents regarding admissions process, immigration procedures, and student services processes
    2. Enters detailed information into the Student Information System (CX) for new applicants and current students.
    3. Tracks the registration requirements of current students to ensure they are meeting their visa requirements.
    4. Updates SEVIS with changes to students I-20’s including deferring attendance, registration of continuing students, terminating and transferring records and address changes.
    5. Assists international students in accessing appropriate services and resources to support students in overcoming situations which may impact academic performance. For example, Academic Coaching appointments or tutoring referrals
    6. Assists coordinator in planning exchange student programming including reserving rooms, tracking applications of homestays, interacting with MHCC departments involved and other items as needed
    7. Assists coordinator in planning events such as new student orientation and the Global Breakfast

    Additional Duties

    1. Collaborates with International Student Program team on admissions and registration policies and procedures, event planning and other departmental programming
    2. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO), assisting in the maintenance of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and all related certification requirements.
    3. Utilizes college systems (such as Navigate or CX) to help students schedule appointments, verify course details or provide registration support
    4. Performs all other duties as assigned

    Minimum and Desired Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Computer Skills, etc.)

    • Associate’s degree in education, sociology, international studies or related field
    • One (1) year of experience working in a customer service role
    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

    Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in education, sociology, international studies or related field
    • Experience working with international students in a college/university setting
    • Bilingual oral and written skills with fluency in English and Vietnamese, Japanese or other language that meets community needs
    • Experience working as a Designated School Official (DSO) and utilizing SEVIS
    • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to admissions, registration, and current immigration rules and regulations

    Working Conditions and Important Information

    Working Conditions

    Work is typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a computer terminal. Visual eye strain and repetitive hand/wrist motion for data entry and keyboarding functions. This is primarily an on-campus position, and the schedule (up to 20 hours) will be between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

    Sick Leave
    Part-time hourly employees will accrue one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked.
