Job Summary

The Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Manager will be responsible for managing the development of new products and suppliers. Products include automotive service/replacement parts (i.e. alternators, compressors, condensers, filters, ignition components, radiators, sensors, starters, etc.), accessories and other electronic devices.

SQA Manager will be required to comply with DENSO’s strict process. Candidate will manage a team of Quality Engineers (QEs) to complete product testing, supplier validation, drawing reviews, onsite supplier audits, and product inspection. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally (i.e. Asia, Latin America, etc.) to supplier audits. Excellent communication skills are critical to this position. Responsible to provide associate coaching and guidance to facilitate development and growth.

Requires domestic and international (Asia and Latin America) travel (estimated to be 10 – 15%). Bilingual in Japanese, Mandarin, and/or Portuguese a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages, develops and maintains Supplier Quality Maintains relationships and directly interacts with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues, including traveling to the supplier’s location as necessary to audit their processes to ensure DENSO quality standards are met, document and facilitate improvement measures, facilitate the closure of issues and emphasize the DENSO quality image.
  • Develops and manages the process to establish and approve new suppliers; compliance with DENSO quality standards, and the resolution of any issues.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with Procurement, Engineering, departments on internal and supplier quality issues and makes decisions towards resolution.
  • Collaborates with senior management to develop goals, objectives and for assigned area in light of overall department, division and organizational strategy. Responsible, along with senior management, for the development of short-and-long range plans.
  • Plans, assigns, schedules, reviews and approves completed work by the quality engineer.
  • Supports supplier quality associates in meeting customer requirements.
  • Develop and monitors adherence.
  • Provides input into staffing proposals.

Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of engineering theories, processes and terms
  • Strong knowledge of product line and critical process points
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be a skillful presenter that can interpret information based on a general knowledge of the organization, its products and procedures, and provide an independent explanation and discussion based on the technical or complex nature of the materials being discussed
  • Excellent customer service skills with an ability to approach every business relationship and partnership
  • Excellent negotiation skills. Ability to resolve difficult or complicated situations that are often sensitive in nature. Recognizes and applies subtle cues in anticipating customers’ needs and potential next steps. Takes strong stand without indicating disrespect and seeks positive outcomes
  • Excellent knowledge and usage of Quality Tools (i.e. 5-Why, 8D, Pareto Charts, etc.)
  • Advanced level of experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Knowledge of database (MS Access) analytical software
  • Drawing and data Analytical and interpretation skills
  • Familiarity with project management software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to develop department and team Goal & Objectives
  • People management

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Requires 10+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent level of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience is preferred.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous automotive and quality engineer experience is preferred.

Annual Salary: $112,000-$140,000
