Asset Control Manager

Summary

This position is responsible for managing the sourcing, procurement, tracking, maintenance, and optimization of all physical assets used during the production process. The role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, and building strong relationships with suppliers to ensure sustainability and access to machinery, equipment, tools, and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Purchase and schedule materials, equipment, and supplies connected to the optimization and preservation of machinery as well as facilities.
  • Calculate necessary inventory quantities by identifying and analyzing the purchase histories, lead time as well as required equipment to maintain appropriate inventory.
  • Utilize the ERP system to initiate and perform inventory control, initiate purchase orders, prepare purchasing reports, and record purchasing transactions.
  • Ensure the continuity of operations at the lowest cost while ensuring the sustainability of the physical assets managed. Schedule orders and adequate maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for managing and purchasing equipment repair parts by assessing and evaluating if the prices are appropriate and competitive.
  • Responsible for Inventory accuracy, Inventory cycle count process, and driving periodical inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Maintain, identify, and develop relationships with current and prospective suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost criteria.
  • Communicate and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to carry out cost-saving and profit-oriented strategies.
  • Research and understand the potential suppliers, products, and/or services to be purchased.
  • Conduct market analyses that contribute to an optimal selection of suppliers while managing commodity risks, including price volatility and supply disruption.
  • Complete supplier and cost/benefit analysis to ensure optimal supply chain rhythm through strategic supplier selections.
  • Provide data in multiple formats (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.) and communicate it to the target audience in a meaningful way.
  • Monitor market conditions, trends, and supply chain conditions to make informed purchasing decisions and recommend improvements to the logistics network.
  • Apply data accuracy methodology and tools available to sustain accuracy in every field and process used.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in the asset procurement and maintenance process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to understand priorities, schedules, and plans to meet their material requirements while ensuring that each department operates according to the company’s production procedures and regulations.
  • Comply with purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the best prices and the most optimum delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment while enhancing supplier efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to project-approved budgets and perform appropriate supply chain analysis to meet organizational goals through cost reduction, quality retention, and optimization of supplier capabilities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the procurement of specific tools and materials to facilitate operational efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Control Manager

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field, or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain Management.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience with ERP inventory systems in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  4. Work Experience as a buyer or a production engineer.
  5. At least 5 years of automotive industry purchasing and/or Japanese manufacturing purchasing experience is a plus.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) must be demonstrated, including advanced skills in Excel and MRP/ERP Systems (Syspro highly preferred; SAP, Oracle, or equivalent acceptable).
  7. Must be able to prepare materials by utilizing Excel, Word, and PPT to comprehensibly communicate with management
  8. APICS certification is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including logistics, manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel and MRP/ERP Systems (Syspro highly preferred; SAP, Oracle, or equivalent acceptable).
  • Analytic and conceptual thinking – using logic, reason, creativity, and attention to detail
  • Strong Communication capabilities – Writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills are core elements of the role
  • Decision-making skills – demonstrated ability to organize resources and analyze alternatives to make effective decisions

  • Problem-solving – effective troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, manage complexity, meet tight deadlines, balance multiple priorities, and handle conflict effectively

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees and effectively engage with representatives of regulatory agencies.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to understand and apply DSSA Inc. documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

  • There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions.
  • The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA Inc.’s manufacturing processes.
