Job Summary:
The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate the business activities of a subsidiary company that trades natural gas, LNG, electricity, and environmental products in the U.S. from the perspective of the shareholders. This includes compiling weekly and monthly performance reports for shareholders, analyzing and preparing business reports from the entity to the shareholders, and creating application for project advancement requests as required by the subsidiary’s management rules and obtaining shareholder approvals as needed. Effective communication with both the business entity and shareholders is required to support efficient business operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyze and prepare weekly and monthly financial performance reports of the subsidiary, coordinating with the subsidiary’s accounting and business line representatives as needed.
- Interpret necessary reports in accordance with the subsidiary’s management rules and decipher appropriate circulation to relevant internal departments.
- Summarize analysis and outline trends/forecast that is relevant for parent company and subsidiary.
- Prepare and ensure internal approvals for project-specific requests are obtained, as required by the subsidiary’s management rules.
- Issue parent company guarantee letters upon request from the subsidiary, following necessary internal approval and signature.
- Oversees storage, retention, and management of data, including reports and application documents submitted by the subsidiary.
- Consolidate and relay directives from the parent company, particularly regarding compliance and regulatory requirements, to the subsidiary.
Job Specific Knowledge/Skills & Abilities
- PC literacy with an intermediate level use of MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, & SharePoint)
- Ability to organize work, establish and manage priorities across multiple projects under general guidance
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles with the ability to read and analyze financial statements.
- Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Profit and Loss (P&L) statements for budgeting and performance management.
- Practical experience in handling legal documents.
- Strong business writing skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate documents.
- Excellent document management skills, with a keen ability to organize and maintain records effectively.
- Proficiency in business-level English and Japanese, including both written and verbal communication.
- Ability to understand and comply with internal company regulations, prepare required documentation, and follow through on approval processes.
- Strong logical thinking and analytical abilities.
- Experience working in a diverse cultural environment with an understanding of Japanese business manners/culture.
Education, Certification and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years working within the Energy or Commodity Trading Industry.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in preparing and interpreting various reports such as financial and performance statements or related.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related study.
- Bilingual in Japanese (written and verbal).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, required to sit for extended periods of time while performing job duties, frequently operates standard office machines with hands and eyes.
