About the Role
We are experiencing significant growth in sales, customer engagement, and product deployments. We are seeking a Staff Solutions Engineer with a background in battery manufacturing to join our customer-facing engineering team.
In this technical role, you will work closely with customers from the pre-sales phase through post-sales deployment, training, and commissioning. This position requires frequent travel, both domestically and internationally. You will serve as a subject matter expert on battery manufacturing for customers, external technology and automation partners, and internal team members.
This role reports to the Head of Customer Engineering and is based at our headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer programs and deployments.
- Design and conduct experiments to address customer challenges and identify value opportunities in battery manufacturing.
- Identify pain points in battery manufacturing through market research and customer discussions and provide actionable feedback to product and engineering teams.
- Define statements of work for projects based on customer needs.
- Collaborate with customers and partners to identify additional product opportunities in battery manufacturing.
- Support collaborations with external R&D centers to explore new applications or use cases for inspection solutions.
- Provide pre-sales technical support to the business development team and prospective customers.
- Work with customers and their integrators to develop and execute validation and integration plans, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Train customers in the use of solutions, including hardware, software, and analytics.
- Develop expertise across all components of products and solutions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and procedures for the Solutions team.
- Regularly provide customer feedback to engineering teams to guide product improvement.
- Travel (40%) to customer sites, trade shows, and conferences as required.

- 8+ years of professional experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in battery manufacturing.
- Understanding of quality control requirements in manufacturing (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied sciences (e.g., electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, materials science, etc.).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to customer sites and events.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision.
- Curious and eager to learn, with a strong problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems effectively under pressure.
- Fluency in Korean.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at an early-stage startup.
- Familiarity with battery materials and cell fabrication processes.
- Experience with manufacturing inspection, metrology, or quality control products.
- Knowledge of next-gen battery technologies and inspection methods.
- Understanding of battery physics and electrochemical processes.
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation equipment (e.g., PLCs, IPCs, controllers).
- Experience with data analysis tools like JMP.
- Advanced degree in engineering or applied sciences.
- Fluency in an additional foreign language (e.g., German, Mandarin, Japanese, French).
