Job Description
Under the direction of the Manager and with the guidance of the Senior International Banking Officer, this position is responsible for the servicing of account relationships in support role; and for administrative and operational work involved in handling client transactions.
Responsibilities
- Manages deposit balance client portfolios and supports Manager and Officers with more complex client portfolios. Consults with customers to analyze their financial situation and partners with other business units to meet the customers’ financial needs. Markets, retains and further develops client base with objective to broaden the product base and increase client revenues.
- Researches and recommends product and client support services to the Manager on more complex relationships. Outlines scope of marketing, including targets, strategy, and assists or leads in implementation.
- Handles transactions for International Commercial clients to enhance customer satisfaction –services related to opening new accounts and applications for other product or services. Works with internal partners to ensure transactions are correct, from point of client instruction to booking of transaction.
- Recognizes errors and/or initiates corrective action on client accounts or requests made by all International Commercial Banking clients. Researches and resolves account maintenance issues or other operational problems, discussing directly with clients to reach final resolution. Maintains thorough product knowledge sufficient to answer questions relating to deposit accounts and other banking products and services. Sets up and meets with clients independently or with RM.
- Reviews and ensures accounts are administered compliant with Bank and Division policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and that adherence and compliance with departmental policies and procedures for CIP/CDD, new client acceptance, and other BSA related matters is maintained. Ensures that documentation received from clients is accurate and up to date.
- Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. Major in business or related are preferred.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years working in a financial institution, working with customers, particularly in problem solving situations, or equivalent work experience. Requires minimum 3 years of experience selling banking products and services or equivalent work experience. Experience servicing high value customers preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
- Possesses excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate good telephone etiquette. Proficiency in business level Japanese with the ability to apply language skill over a variety of communication channels including verbal (in person and telephone) and written (email and fax) communication. Understanding and working knowledge of Japanese market, business acumen and protocol involving bank business or related transactions is desirable. Must be flexible, adapt quickly and embrace change. Should be able to communicate with customers in Japanese. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as necessary. Must be able to push/lift 30 lbs.
