Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Electronics Lab Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as the lead technician in the electronics lab, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines, conducting evaluations per established specifications, and delivering high-quality data efficiently to meet project milestones.
Reporting to the Technician Manager, this role supports the team’s and department’s objectives in developing high-quality automotive and mobility products that enhance the customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate vehicle electronic system designs to ensure safety, performance, and compatibility within their electrical environments.
- Conduct evaluations and analyze data with a quality-driven and safety-focused mindset.
- Collaborate with a team of highly skilled engineering technicians and engineers to enhance lab operations.
- Continuously seek process improvements (Kaizen) and develop standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
- Interpret electrical system drawings, specifications, manuals, wiring diagrams, and industry standards to troubleshoot design issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
What You Bring:
- A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Automotive, Electronics, or Technology.
- Experience operating dynamometers, spectrum analyzers, RF receivers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
- Background in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing.
- Experience coordinating vehicle evaluations, troubleshooting designs, and managing resource schedules.
- Ability to document and communicate data and issues accurately, including technical writing and reporting.
- Skilled in tracking equipment usage, maintenance trends, and identifying future needs.
- Strong diagnostic skills with OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) and CAN (Controller Area Network) tools for troubleshooting system issues.
- Hands-on experience using hand and shop tools for test fixture assembly, vehicle disassembly, and reassembly.
- Experience updating vehicle and system software and verifying functionality.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record are required.
- Willingness to travel (domestic and international), work extended hours, weekends, and flexible schedules as needed.
- Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced technical degree in a relevant field.
- Leadership or participation in industry-related organizations.
- Recognized expertise in electronics-related disciplines.
- Experience with software programming.
- Formal problem-solving certifications (e.g., Kepner-Tregoe, Six Sigma).
- Japanese language proficiency is a plus
