    SouthernCarlson is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. This position plays an essential role in supporting the financial compliance and information reporting needs of the business as well as contributing to profitability through identification and implementation of cost control strategies.

    Areas of Responsibility Include:

    • Financial Reporting
    • General Ledger and Subsystems
    • Month End Close Process
    • Year End Audit
    • Monthly Reconciliation and Analysis of Various Balance Sheet and P&L Accounts
    • Sales tax maintenance
    • Information Systems Testing
    • Special Projects as Assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or similar area of study.
    • Two years of work experience utilizing advanced Excel skills.
    • One year of work experience in for-profit accounting.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
    • Strong analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Advanced computer skills and MS Office application including strong Excel spreadsheet capabilities (including pivot tables and complex formulas).
    • Ability to work independently as well as with members of the accounting team and all other departments.
    • Strong ethical and moral beliefs to uphold the company code of ethics and values.
