The Department of Religious Studies at DePauw University invites applications for a term position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning January 20, 2025 and extending through the 2025-26 academic year. Ph.D. (completed by January 2025) in Buddhist Studies is preferred; ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal-arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. The department specifically seeks candidates to teach Buddhism with a specialization in East Asian Buddhism, Chinese, and Japanese. Teaching assignment is three courses per semester, and funding is available for professional development and research with undergraduate students. The position requires teaching introductory and upper level courses in Buddhism, and the Introductory course in Religions. Since courses in Buddhism are cross-listed with DePauw’s Asian Studies Program, the successful candidate will be expected to fulfill duties in the Asian Studies Program.
