Assistant Sales Manager
Essential Job Functions
• Make inroads into the American consumer base by initiating new projects/products/ programs.
• Meet the monthly and annual sales quota as designated by Acting Division Manager.
• Manage brokers to set sales objectives and implement strategies accordingly.
• Assist Acting Division Manager with formulating division sales objectives, strategies, and tactics.
• Assist Acting Division Manager in leading, directing, and motivating the sales team to achieve the overall corporate sales objectives.
• Assist Acting Division Manager in analyzing data on sales results and develop plans to address performance gap by providing reports and project assessments.
• Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties and delegate tasks. • Ensure that all sales staff adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Monitor sales staff productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
• Oversee and assess staff projects to be in line with stated timing, budget, and goals. • Monitor staff spending on sales/marketing budget, samples and other resources.
• Handle inter-department matters with respective managers.
• Help train new department employees.
• Coordinate with the accounting department to assure the collection of payment in a timely manner.
• Maintain and safely operate the company vehicle as per the Company Vehicle Policy. • Help lead weekly division meetings.
• Participate in weekly sales meetings and other relevant meetings.
• Attend semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend. • Produce/participate in trade shows/events as set by business objectives.
• Attend company events and functions outside normal working hours.
• Other duties as required from Acting Division Manager.
• Obligation to answer to all management as requested.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to drive for a majority of the daily working hours
• Ability to sit in a car for extended periods of time
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally • Ability to use the phone for extended periods of time
• Working Conditions
o Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the office
Other Requirements
• Business level English – Read/write/speak/listen
• Basic level Japanese; Business level Japanese preferred – Read/write/speak/listen

• Trade event participation and traveling may be required
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• Pass the Sake Adviser course within 1 year of employment
• AA Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree or above preferred
• 3+ years of food or liquor sales experience
• 3+ years of customer service or sales experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills
• Basic mathematical knowledge – markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
• Data Compiling and Analysis skills
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Problem-solving skills
• Leadership skills
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency
• Knowledge of ERP systems, especially AS400 preferred
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and previous attendance of tradeshows preferred
• Knowledge of Japanese foods and sakes preferred
