Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$69,000 – $179,300

Organization Overview:

Our Lilly Immunology Discovery team has an exciting opportunity for a scientist who has skills in immunology. Our team contributes to target identification/validation, mechanism of action studies using both molecular biology and pharmacological approaches. This is a great role to work for a company dedicated to impacting the patients we serve.

We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated teammate who is passionate about scientific research and drug discovery. This individual will be part of a diverse team responsible for developing therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. In this role, you will independently design, develop, and validate immunology cell-based functional assays to test and analyze molecule activities, investigate the mechanism of action of biological drugs in vitro and in vivo, and ultimately deliver preclinical evidence for future clinical testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop immune cell-based functional assays using primary immune cells from various species, including human, non-human primate, rat and mouse.
  • Assess immune cell function by various techniques including but not limited to flow cytometry, MSD, ELISA and qPCR.
  • Perform leukocyte isolations to support cell-based assays.
  • Independently design, test, and analyze data for novel molecules assessed in cell-based assays.
  • Effectively communicate through written and oral presentation of experimental data.
  • Flexibility and motivation to learn new technologies for biological assays

Basic Requirements:

  • B.S or M.S in immunology and/or cell biology or related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry or an academic institute, in the field of immunology.
  • 2 or more years of experience in designing, conducting, and analyzing spectral flow cytometry-based experiment

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Deep understanding of in vitro and ex vivo assay development including human cell lines, PBMC and isolated primary blood cells, and whole blood assays
  • Experience with MSD, ELISA, DNA/RNA isolation and qPCR
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills: ability to independently design and implement experiments, analyze, interpret and present experimental data.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Great teammate and open to collaboration opportunities
  • Motivation, drive and enthusiasm for drug discovery.
  • Experience with single cell technologies including but not limited to CITE-seq or spatial transcriptomics.
  • Experience with isolation of tissue cells from human, non-human primate, rat and mouse.
  • Experience with Western blot.
  • Experience with confocal microscopy or CODEX.
