Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$57,750 – $129,800

Organization Overview:

This position will assist the departmental Leader in the operational support and management of domestic and international transportation services as it relates to all Lilly business (internal and external). The customer base includes, but is not limited to: Lilly manufacturing site support (Indy Mfg – IDAP, RTP, Concord, etc.), North American Logistics Operations (NALO), Sales and Marketing (new product launches, sales samples, and promotional materials), Clinical Trials, etc. Meet and support Global Quality Standards (GQS) requirements as it relates to Transportation Logistics. The position is responsible for the design and implementation of business improvement projects and compliance initiatives within Lilly Logistics. These responsibilities will entail aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, distribution, and sales practices as well as logistics, warehousing, accounting, HSE, regulatory, production, financial, quality control and Special Security Substances.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will work within the US Transportation team to execute on the Logistic needs that Lilly requires to meet customer and partner demand for products and logistic service. There will be associated project work and strategic initiatives in addition to the daily operational output needs/support. The candidate will be expected to support the extended shift hours and days of operations which are as follows: 1100 (11:00am) to 2000 (8:00pm) on a Sunday through Thursday. The detail of the work is included below:

  • Provide daily support/counsel/actions for North American Logistics Operations, Customer Service groups, plant sites, and other customers (internal and external suppliers), and represent Transportation Logistics on cross-functional teams; maintaining compliance within Lilly’s quality systems.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and/or improved service for all aspects of the business in support of logistics needs for Lilly.
  • Research, identify, and implement process changes that will enhance business processes while providing enhanced services at a competitive cost.
  • Continuously search for and identify opportunities utilizing enhanced technological applications that will improve efficiencies, provide automated shipment information to customers, improvement of reports and system monitoring.
  • Work closely with 3rd party logistic partners to execute transportation options efficiently.
  • Comply with all local, site, and corporate procedures applicable to this area and remain current on all training requirements.
  • Complete all training assigned in ITP.
  • Monitor carrier utilization, carrier performance, and freight payment.
  • Deliver results to identified customer base.
  • Lead investigations of transportation-related events/deviations. Identify root cause and implement corrective actions.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or related area with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience OR 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiar with pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Knowledge of domestic transportation network (air, road, rail, parcel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of CAPA and TrackWise
  • Must exhibit attention to detail, understanding of critical quality/service issues
  • Must be a self-starter and self-sufficient as a remote resource
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of computer applications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize and plan daily work activities
  • Demonstrated follow-through skills to ensure problems are dealt with thoroughly
  • Ability to cross from one functionality to another when problem solving
  • Ability to deal with difficult customer and situations in a professional manner
  • Ability to be flexible and assist in other areas when needed

Additional Information:

  • Work shift would be from 1100 to 2000 (EDT) with an hour for meals/break at the Plainfield DC. Working days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Individual will be working in warehouse environment (regularly exposed to dust/cardboard/noise).
  • Some travel (between sites in NC, Lilly in IN, and 3PL locations: 10-20%).
  • Carries a company-provided cell phone for total accessibility 24 hours/7 days a week.
  • Must be willing to work to support year-end business needs between Christmas and New Year and Independence week holidays.
