The Facility Specialist is responsible for developing the safe and efficient maintenance plans of both the plant building facilities and infrastructure (maintenance & operation of the building electricity, HVAC, water, sewage, water quality improvement devices, and fire suppressing & extinguishing equipment) at the AW Texas automatic transmission manufacturing facility. In addition, the Specialist will develop plans to achieve the following Facility objectives: (1) Stable supply of energy, (2) Introduction of energy-saving equipment, (3) Introduction of low-cost plant infrastructure systems, and (4) Examination of ways to prevent environmental waste. (5) Manage and coordinate repair and construction projects.

The Facility Specialist will report to the Facility Assistant Manager.

Main Duties

  • Assist in Facility designs and support of structural, mechanical, or HVAC related projects
  • Assist in the development of preventive and routine equipment maintenance plans
  • Development of catastrophic failure repair plans and countermeasures
  • Budget planning and performance management for the Facility team
  • Develop continuous improvement plans to generate energy cost-savings for site
  • Support the improvement of indirect material costs, equipment, labor and vendor costs
  • Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with AWTX team members, outside contractors and Japanese Facility team members

Other Facility duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline required, or 3 years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum one year of experience with reading/understanding blue prints (experience using CAD or PDF editing software is a plus)
  • Prior experience with mechanical design, structures, equipment, or utility systems
  • Prior experience with supporting the requirements of a Facility department
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create graphs, analyze data, generate reports

Desired Skills

  • Project management experience required, experience in a production or an automotive manufacturing environment is a plus

  • Working experience with structures, equipment, or utility systems
  • Ability to safely handle various tools used in repair/maintenance of equipment

Physical Conditions

  • Ability to work in various manufacturing environments including roof, outdoors, confined space, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel on business in US or Japan
