Position Objective:
The International Communication Facilitator facilitates internal and external communication between Japanese and English speaking executives and provides effective and articulate oral and written communication between Daikin Japan and local/global executives in all business areas including Planning, Finance, Operations, HR, and R&D to ensure clear understanding and communication occurs between the parties.
Key Accountabilities:
- Interpret communication, oral and written, for Japanese employees dispatched from Daikin’s Japanese headquarter and for the COO and other local executives when communicating with Japanese headquarters, for visitors from Japan, etc.
- In addition to the main duties of interpreting for internal meetings (including meetings with Japan), related to Manufacturing, Sales, R&D, and management, other duties are expected to include interpreting support for visitors, accompanying executives (including the COO and Japanese expats) on business trips, and translating internal documents..
- Written communication translation for internal/external e-mails, documents, presentations and letters- incoming and outgoing.
- Provide other support for event/operations specialists.
- Domestic travel.
- Due to time differences with other countries, there are cases where early morning or late night support is required.
- In principle, required to come to the office to work (exceptions apply, including early morning and late night meetings).
Requirements
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year accredited university;
- 10+ years of international administrative experience;
- 10+ years of translation or interpretation experience (simultaneous skill is plus);
- Experience as an interpreter for a Japanese company in the US is preferred;
- Fluency in Japanese and English;
- Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors;
- Good knowledge of content editing tools;
- Familiarity with translation software;
- Time-management skills;
- MicroSoft Office Suite;
- Understanding of industry specific business terminology, accounting and operations in order to accurately interpret critical information and messaging;
- Long, often unscheduled hours to accommodate international time zone differences;
- 10% travel. Prepared to manage frequent changes during the travel, often with short notice.
