Job Responsibilities

Overview:

NOBU, the world-renowned Japanese Restaurant, is hiring a full-time Line Cook to join our team for its midtown location in Manhattan. This is a great opportunity to work for one of New York City’s most exciting, successful, and growing restaurants.

As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing dishes according to recipes and chef specifications. The ideal candidate is friendly, curious, and devoted to becoming an integral member of a team that values hard work and attention to every detail.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Food preparation tasks as assigned by the Sous Chefs and Executive Chefs, including vegetable preparation, sauces, tempura, hot appetizers, desserts, cutting meats, and sushi food items in accordance with restaurant needs.
  • Keep consistent and calm communication with fellow staff members in a respectable manner.
  • Execute all food orders with accuracy and consistency, ensuring timely delivery to guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Maintain exceptional menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation.
  • Read and execute recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment throughout the shift in accordance with Health Department and restaurant standards.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

General Requirements and Experience

General Requirements and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a full service, high-volume, fast paced kitchen.
  • Maintain polished personal presentation; grooming meets Company standards as outlined by Employee Handbook.
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking styles and techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk up and down the stairs.
  • Must be able to handle items that weigh up to 50 lbs.

Compensation Details:

Compensation: Hourly ($19.00 – $24.00)
