JOB SUMMARY:

As a Manager in Training (MIT) at Zuma, you will embark on an intensive training program aimed at developing the skills and knowledge needed to take on a leadership role within the restaurant. You will work closely with the management team to learn all facets of restaurant operations, FOH to Kitchen, financial oversight, guest services, and staff development.

This position is ideal for individuals seeking to advance their career in hospitality management within a dynamic and upscale dining environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Engage in an intensive training program, shadowing the management team to learn daily operational responsibilities
  • Assist with managing daily restaurant operations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory, and financial management
  • Support the recruitment, training, and supervision of restaurant staff, ensuring all team members adhere to Zuma’s standards
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, service, cleanliness, and safety in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Participate in service periods, learning how to handle guest relations, resolve issues, and maintain guest satisfaction
  • Gain experience in developing and implementing strategies to boost revenue and drive business growth
  • Assist in coordinating events and special projects aimed at enhancing guest experience and driving the restaurant’s reputation
  • Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, inventory management, and purchasing under the supervision of senior management
  • Learn financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting procedures, contributing to the restaurant’s financial performance
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth operations and alignment with service standards
  • Follow Zuma’s service standards and protocols, including uniform guidelines, grooming standards, and service etiquette
  • Operate ethically to protect the image of the company
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a high-volume, upscale restaurant environment
  • Open to relocation, with willingness to work at any of Zuma’s locations considered a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, guests, and vendors
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and restaurant management software is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs; Ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularly
  • Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
