As a Computational Statistician Intern, you will have the opportunity to partner with experts in statistics, data sciences, medical, regulatory, and clinical to lead a project that addresses research or business needs. With your statistics and statistical programming knowledge, you will understand the patient and business needs to deliver with high quality. Responsibilities:
The job tasks listed below outline the scope of the position. The application of these tasks may vary, based upon current business needs.

  • Utilize statistics and programming skills on the project that will have impact in the Statistics, Data and Analytics organization.
  • Lead the project by understanding the background and impact.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the project.
  • Present to the organization on the technical aspects and the impact of the project.
  • Introduce and apply innovative thinking to the project.

Lilly internships last for 12 continuous weeks beginning in May or June. Each intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to actively contribute to the organization and build a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. At the conclusion, each intern will present their project highlights, findings, recommendations, and general internship accomplishments to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in and attending school, in a graduate-level curriculum leading to a Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or MSPH with concentration in Statistics or Biostatistics

Desired Experience:

  • Proficient in statistical programming languages/software such as SAS, R, Spotfire, WinBUG, etc.
  • Interpersonal communication skills for effective customer consultation
  • Teamwork and leadership skills
  • Technical expertise and application with working knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis
  • Self-management skills with a focus on results for timely and accurate completion of competing deliverables
  • Resource management skills
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and critical thinking.
  • Business process expertise associated with critical activities (e.g., regulatory submissions)
