Duties and Responsibilities
- *Under the direction and guidance of the Director of the Center for Language & Technology (CLT), design, produce and refine a wide variety of digital multimedia assets in the form of graphics, webpages, videos, or animations, such as social media postings, instructional materials, email campaigns, signage, etc. for the Center for Language & Technology (CLT) and sponsored programs affiliated with the CLT, such as the National Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC).
- *Produce audio and visual footage to create audio or video content to inform, highlight, recap, and promote various activities and events.
- *Prepare collateral material (programs, schedules, banners, publicity, advertisement, newsletter articles, information sites, online registration) for local and national conferences supported by CLT and affiliated programs.
- *Produce multimedia instructional materials in several non-roman alphabets (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.).
- *Responsible for the design, management, maintenance, and expansion of the CLT websites, including special project websites.
- *Oversee student assistants working on tasks related to this position.
- *Assist with the management of the social media presence for the CLT and sponsored projects supported by CLT (e.g., CLT websites in Laulima, NFLRC website, Language Flagship Technology Innovation Center website, etc.).
- *Hold walk-in hours for faculty, staff, and students to provide in-person consultation on media design and facilitate other professional development opportunities, such as hands-on sessions or workshops on multimedia design or specific digital tools (e.g., Canva, Google Suite, etc.).
- *Keep abreast of new technologies for graphics, webpage, video, audio, and animation design and remain current with trends.
- *Assist in the preparation of external grant applications on aspects related to the duties of this position.
- Assist in all aspects of print and digital production of publications by the CLT and affiliated programs, such as securing and assigning ISSN/ISBNs, indexing publications in national databases, obtaining, granting, and modifying permissions to reuse or reprint, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in fine arts, creative media, communication arts, visual communication design, web or interactive design or related field and 1 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for media design; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of media design demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with media design.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of media design.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software.
- Familiarity with industry standard graphic tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Drupal, and Final Cut Pro.
- Familiarity with web-based programs such as content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Experience post-producing images, audio and video content, especially for online delivery.
- Knowledge in the use of social media and website management.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in video design and production work in Adobe Premier Pro or other similar production software.
- Experience with the operation of multimedia and video production equipment.
- Expertise with industry standard graphic tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, XD, Drupal, and/or Final Cut Pro.
- Expertise with web-based programs such as content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Proficient at professional account management of Facebook, Instagram and X (Twitter)
