Position Summary
Quality Specialist/Auditor is responsible for auditing corporate sites and providing internal audit support to North American plants as needed. This role involves learning the corporate structure of IATF certificates, understanding IATF certification requirements, and gaining familiarity with overseas remote support sites and manufacturing operations relevant to North America. The position also includes supporting meetings with the audit registrar to discuss audit planning, organizational changes, plant/site concerns related to audit findings, external audits, and other pertinent issues. Additionally, the auditor will gain insight into AWA processes in North America and assist plants that are not IATF certified in achieving certification. The ideal candidate should demonstrate potential for growth and the ability to build relationships and trust with multiple sites in North America.
Position Responsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
- Develop and maintain an internal audit schedule(s) that covers all relevant processes, departments, and functions within the organization.
- Manage controlled documents.
- Train and mentor colleagues or process owners on quality management practices and IATF requirements.
- Promote awareness of quality standards, customer-specific requirements, and the importance of compliance.
- Ensure that all audit-related documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained as part of the QMS records.
- Keep records of audit findings, reports, and corrective action statuses.
- Identify and document instances of non-conformities (major and minor) or areas where improvement is needed.
- Distinguish between compliance gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Other tasks and duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 Standard
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Standard
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 Rules of Implementation, FAQs and SIs
- Knowledge of various customer-specific requirements
- Familiarity with various customer portals
- Proficient in understanding and working with technical concepts
- Experience with diverse manufacturing processes, warehousing operations and various business functions
- Understands and can conduct audits using the automotive process approach and applying risk-based thinking
Beneficial Skills and Experience
- Ability to remain impartial and objective while auditing
- Excellent communication skills when speaking with people from various levels of the organization
- Able to promote harmony, synergy, and constructive support
- Familiarity with Japanese culture, business practices, and language
- A desire to pursue on-going training and study within the body of knowledge of quality audits
Education/Training/Certifications
- Lead Auditor Training for IATF 16949
- Core Tools Training: APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and PPAP
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 25%
- Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
