    JOB TITLE: Sales Engineer – Aerospace

    DEPARTMENT: Sales & Marketing

    REPORTS TO: General Manager

    SUPERVISES: N/A

    POSITION TYPE: Exempt

    GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Sales Engineer will be responsible for discovering and generating revenue for the Aerospace Division of JAE into markets outside of the Oil and Gas industry excluding the Military market. This individual will be responsible for identifying markets and applications for the Aerospace Division’s products/services and directly engaging with new and existing customers. This individual should have a demonstrated record of success in achieving company objectives and exceeding business goals, excellent presentation and communication skills, and should have an established network in one or more markets outside of the Oil and Gas industry.

    Note: The role/business will not involve the military market at this time per JAE company policy.

    This individual should have a solid understanding of and be able to effectively interface with customers and internal stakeholders on the following topics:

    1. Basic principles and construction of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and IMUs
    2. Motion sensor applications (navigation, vibration control, seismic sensing, etc.)
    3. Market analysis (understanding product requirements, market trends, estimating market size, understanding competition in the market, etc.)

    The Sales Engineer must be able to effectively communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, technical skill levels, and cultures. They must be able to gather information from multiple sources, effectively relay technical information, and work with both engineers and procurement professionals to address their needs. They must also be driven to seek out opportunities and leads in often obscure and niche markets.

    MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1. Establish and generate revenue with identified key accounts.
    2. Identify new markets and applications for the Aerospace Division’s products.
    3. Actively manage the marketing of the Aerospace Division’s non-oil and gas products.
    4. Perform short, mid, and long term sales and customer strategies, planning and forecasting.
    5. Provide recommendations to JAE leadership and Engineering about market trends and new products.
    6. Participate in industry trade meetings and committees as deemed necessary by the JAE management.
    7. Represent JAE at various industry trade shows.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering, Business or Marketing are required; Electronic Engineering major is preferred

    Experience:

    • Entry level (3-5 years) experience in sales or business development for technical products preferably in an Aerospace or motion sensing field.
    • Japanese language and culture knowledge is a plus.

    BUSINESS TRAVEL:

    This position will require regional travel and some international travel. Travel may be required up to 30% of the time. PHYSICAL DEMAND:

    This position requires lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
