Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$162,000 – $237,600
Job Responsibilities:
As the Senior Director of State Advocacy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping public policies related to healthcare and pharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and strategically implementing Lilly’s state government affairs relationships with third-party stakeholders and patient groups. This role requires a passionate and experienced health policy and patient advocacy specialist who can serve as a liaison between Lilly’s government affairs team and patient advocacy groups. Your efforts will help drive patient-centered healthcare reforms and ensure equitable access to pharmaceutical products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading large-scale projects or campaigns with awareness of legislative and business risks.
- Have an established network of relationships with patient advocacy and third-party organizations.
- Handling relationships with key customers and functioning as a principal government affairs representative on behalf of Lilly with civic and community organizations and disease state organizations.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key advocacy and business organizations that align with Lilly’s business and legislative objectives.
- Supporting Lilly’s state government affairs team by using relationships with prominent third-party stakeholders and patient groups.
- Engaging with civic and community organizations in priority states on issues like 340 B, Prescription Drug Affordability Boards, and proprietary issues focused on Lilly’s therapeutic areas.
- Building and maintaining relationships with patient advocacy groups, healthcare providers, regulatory agencies, and policymakers to influence healthcare policy and legislative initiatives.
- Securing and strengthening alliances with state-based disease state patient organizations to support Lilly’s business and legislative objectives.
- Collaborating with advocacy organizations to design and implement public awareness campaigns that educate communities on critical healthcare issues and patient rights.
- Planning and participating in third-party and patient advocacy organization events, conferences, and legislative meetings to represent the organization’s views and facilitate discussions between stakeholders.
- Influencing decisions within the government affairs team and external partners on legislative issues that align with Lilly’s business objectives.
- Analyzing and anticipating changes to the public and private business environment in areas of direct responsibility. Identifying trends and staying abreast of the external environment for issues and actions that could affect present and future business opportunities.
- Running a budget for the purpose of supporting and working with third-party and patient advocacy organizations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience working with third-party organizations and patient advocacy groups.
