What you will do:The Senior Project Engineer provide engineering services to develop and implement capital projects at the site level while supporting corporate initiatives and working with the national OPEX team. This role is key in assisting operations and maintenance at the assigned work site with technical analyses and designs to improve existing processes and equipment. Manages project work to maintain compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

  • Leads the technical process for operating areas to solve equipment and process-related problems, including troubleshooting.
  • Assists with designing solutions to eliminate equipment failures and process instabilities
  • Manages all phases of assigned capital projects including the development project justifications, scope, AFCEs, vendor management packets and project documentation.
  • Conducts data analysis and provides support data for all reports and performance updates.
  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts.
  • Investigates and analyses relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
  • Analyses preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • Organizes shut down schedules for operations where applicable.
  • Develops working knowledge of all process areas in areas including process flow, operator responsibility, major quality attributes and areas for improvement.
  • Participates in the development of less experienced engineers.
  • Provides crew supervision during trials or upset conditions to ensure the trial plans are properly executed.

What you will need:To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Paper Science (required), mechanical engineering strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in project or reliability engineering, maintenance, or operations in the paper industry required with preferences in high-speed manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with vendors, managers, and production employees to achieve goals.
  • Previous experience using a Production Management system (required).
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other levels within the organization to influence change.
  • Able to work in a high-speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces.
  • Capable of managing Process Safety Management programs.
  • Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of construction and repair codes (ASME, API, NBIC, NEC etc.).
  • Knowledgeable with maintenance best practices (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.) preferred.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment.
  • Exposure to dirt, noise, odor, and temperature extremes.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding and uneven surfaces/grounds.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing process.
